Learning Support Program

The Learning Support Program provides students with remediation, confidence building and encouragement. Our Learning Support is modeled on the Response to Intervention Model, which is a three-tiered model that identifies interventions required at each level. The most intensive interventions are for students with serious learning needs that cannot be met in the classroom. Interventions in the next two tiers of the model are generally addressed within the classroom through differentiated learning strategies devised by the teacher in consultation with the Learning Support Coordinator. Response to Intervention is an inclusive model of learning support for at-risk and struggling students.

The Learning Support Coordinator works closely with classroom teachers to modify and adapt learning strategies so all students can meet the specified learning outcomes outlined in the curriculum and experience success. A variety of cognitive strategies are tailored to the individual student and employed to remediate areas of learning deficit.
